Welcome to BUBU
BuBu offers you not one but two luxury but affordable beach resorts, both located on Long Beach of Pulau Perhentian Kecil, the smaller of the two main Perhentian islands. With its 700 metres of gently sloping powdery white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters, Long Beach is probably the best beach in all of Peninsular Malaysia. Indeed, it was rated the 13th best beach in the world in a CNN survey!
Both the Resort and the Villa boast high-class restaurants where you can enjoy hearty breakfasts, appetising lunches and sumptuous evening meals – not to mention a range of cocktails, mocktails, aperitifs, gourmet coffee and other drinks. There is also broadband Internet access throughout both resorts.
There is plenty to do at our resorts, with snorkeling, diving and island hopping all near to hand – see our activities section for more details. Or you can simply chill out to the wonderful views onto the South China Sea.

We stayed 4 days in this resort. Our garden villa was perfect, calm and comfortable. The service was excellent and... read more the food at the restaurant delicious, even if a little bit expensive. One advice: if you want to snorkle, just ask a driver on the beach to book a boat. Actually it’s quite expensive through the hotel. All in all a very nice stay! read less16/09/18
Really lovely and a step up from the other accommodation options on Palau Kecil. Bubu Villas have self contained sweet... read more little rooms or ‘villas’ with everything you need and well decked out. WiFi, plugs and hot showers are the rule not the exception. It’s well-managed and run and the happy hour cocktail is a great way to kick off the evening. It’s beachside with dedicated sun beds and the menu has a distinctively European bent (and is priced as such), but there are plenty of other more local options along the way.Perhentian Kecil itself is looking a little tatty and I hope local accommodation owners work together with visitors to stop this little piece of paradise from being spoilt. For example we enjoyed the snorkeling trip but were appalled fellow Bubu guests stood on the coral, used it try and pull themselves along, scoop up fish and got horrifyingly close to a turtle.Bit overall the waters are clear, the sand inviting and the welcome hospitable! read less24/09/18
I thought overall this resort is excellent. The manager and receptionist are friendly and helpful. The welcome drinks upon check... read more in we’re a nice welcome. We thought the location was good - both close to and far away enough from the party depending on what you want to do. Loved the daily cocktail what an amazing addition!!Rooms are well appointed with excellent air con. Most have nice views. They didn’t seem to clean them very thoroughly though, and one night we had quite a lot of ants on our bed as a result, which we had to clear before sleeping. We found the service by the main staff in the restaurant (1 gentleman who seemed to perhaps be the restaurant manager and another one) a bit rude and abrupt. Where other guests got ‘sir/madam’ we were pointed at without even words one morning to give our hot beverage requests. We noticed a difference to how we were treated compared to white guests (we are British Indians) which isn’t acceptable. This put a bit of a taint on a lovely stay. Paying customers are paying customers after all.. and we are polite and courteous wherever we go. read less03/10/18

Was looking forward to a long weekend beach getaway but the experience throughout the 2nights stay was just disappointing. First... read more was the miscommunication on the boat transfer timing from Kuala Besut Jetty to the island. Ashley (I would assume attended the call at the front desk) said the earliest boat is 10am but when we rushed there, Saiful (the transport coordinator) said it was 11.30am instead. We waited aimlessly at the jetty (with nowhere interesting to go). The 45mins boat ride was good (as the sea was calm) but upon arrival, we were confused to where we should be dropped off - there were 2 stops and the last was at Bubu Resort. To get to BuBu Villa, another smaller boat “taxi” should transfer us but instead, we wandered in BuBu Resort asking for assistance only then transported us to the Villa. Service rendered from the front desk was not great. But they solved all the problems we faced. Being paid RM1300 a night, the room amenities were very basic - no toothbrush/toothpaste; no in-room slippers; no shaving kit; no TV and only ONE electricity socket is usable. I was just so surprised. To make things worse, the shops nearby charge TRIPLE the price of the basic toiletries I need. Great. Other than the hotel, the surrounding area wasn’t a great sight either. Perhentian Kecil is basically a stretch of beach filled with small ill-maintained stalls, worn out self-made “bars” / hand-made wooden sheds that really spoilt the view. The cheap umbrellas (of the other service providers) blocking the view from the Villa, can they do something about it? Not to mention the boats, all parked at the beachside where everyone swims and the fuel that may have leaked. I can still remember the should-I-stay-or-should-I-swim-away faces of the swimmers as the boat approaches the beach to drop off visitors. It’s so dangerous! Other than all that, the water was clear and clean, room was spacious and food served in the restaurant is good albeit the seafood prices are quite high given they are located by the sea. I highly recommend both the villa and resort’s restaurant. Despite the hype that it’s a party town, I highly doubt so. Maybe it’s cuz of the rain. And with the price paid, I do not think the services rendered was up to par. An example, I stayed in Pangkor Laut Resort (Pangkor island) at a price lesser albeit 5* but with better quality. But I guess maybe is that there are no other comparable options hence the ability to monopolize the price. Maybe... read less11/09/18
